The Association of Juju Musicians of Nigeria (AJUMI), Badagry chapter, has showered encomiums on Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, Member of the House of Representatives representing Badagry Federal Constituency, for his generous donation of chairs to its newly established secretariat.
Hon. Whingan, who also serves as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), donated five dozen chairs to the association in support of its office take-off. The lawmaker’s gesture has been described as a demonstration of his commitment to cultural advancement, grassroots empowerment, and the promotion of creative industries in Badagry.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the Chairman of AJUMI, Mr. Kenny Gbesoevi, expressed deep appreciation to the federal lawmaker, noting that the contribution would significantly enhance the operations of the association’s secretariat.
“This support goes beyond furniture; it is a mark of encouragement to our members and recognition of the vital role music and culture play in community development. Hon. Whingan has again proven himself as a leader who values our heritage and invests in its preservation,” Gbesoevi said.
Members of the association equally praised the lawmaker for what they termed “a practical show of solidarity with the creative sector,” adding that his intervention would serve as a lasting legacy in strengthening unity, encouraging artistic talent, and promoting Badagry’s socio-cultural identity.
The donation has been widely received as part of Hon. Whingan’s broader effort to connect with different sectors of the constituency and to ensure that cultural groups are not left behind in the drive for development and recognition.
