Young Badagry Leader, Ajande, Shines in Canada as Lagos Commissioner Ogunlende Hails Him as a Transformational Voice

A proud moment for Badagry and Lagos played out thousands of miles away in Canada, as rising youth leader Pascal Ajande Viweavo basked in well-deserved recognition during a high-level engagement at Queen's University, Kingston.

Ajande, one of the selected IBILE Youth Ambassadors from Lagos State currently on a study and cultural exchange programme in Canada, was warmly introduced by the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, as a “transformational leader” and “a visionary youth hungry for change.”

The young Badagry native took to Facebook to express his gratitude and excitement after the encounter.

"It gladdens my heart that I was introduced today to the Chief of Staff, Queen's University, Nick Mosey, in Kingston, Canada, as one of the passionate and visionary youths in Lagos seriously hungry for change-making. Showing them the programs I facilitated blew their minds," Ajande wrote.

He added heartfelt thanks to Commissioner Ogunlende, describing him as a leader and mentor whose belief in young people continues to open life-changing doors.

“Big thanks to my leader and mentor… for this privilege and opportunity, which I promise to utilize by being focused and consistent,” he said.

The visit to Queen’s University forms part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts to empower young leaders through global exposure, cross-cultural learning, and collaborative innovation.

Back home, Ajande is known for his hands-on work in youth development, community projects, and grassroots advocacy—qualities that earned him a spot on the delegation and now, recognition on the international stage.

As he continues his journey abroad, many in Badagry and beyond are already celebrating Ajande as a beacon of hope and a symbol of the positive change young Nigerians are capable of driving.
