... MHA Bonu Also Sends Invitation to Jesufolahan After Badagry Today’s Report

In a heartwarming show of support for academic excellence, the Honourable Member representing Badagry Federal Constituency, Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, has awarded full tuition scholarships to two brilliant young students who distinguished themselves in the recently concluded UTME (JAMB) examinations.
The scholarship recipients, both 16 years old, are Bello Jesufolahan Elijah and Kolade Seton Phillips—two of the top scorers in the entire Badagry area.
Sesi's award to Jesufolahan came few days after Badagry Today reported about his outstanding performance in the last UTME Examination.
Bello Jesufolahan Elijah earned a remarkable score of 362, the highest in the constituency. He is seeking admission into the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to study Computer Science. A bright and determined young mind, Bello has expressed a deep interest in technology and dreams of contributing to innovative solutions that can make a meaningful impact both nationally and globally.
Kolade Seton Phillips, who scored an equally impressive 325, hopes to study Accounting at Lagos State University (LASU). Outside the classroom, Kolade is a passionate drummer and has shown a desire to acquire skills beyond academics—demonstrating a well-rounded drive for success.
Badagry Today had earlier reported that 16-year-old Bello Jesufolahan Elijah, a resident of Aradagun, Badagry, emerged as the highest JAMB scorer in Badagry with an astounding score of 362.

Elijah, who lives off Itoga Road near Miracle Estate, nearly had his academic dreams cut short when financial difficulties forced him to drop out of Lightbearers College, Aradagun, during the third term of SS3. But where others might have given up, Elijah chose to fight—and he fought hard.
“I couldn’t continue because we couldn’t afford my school fees,” Elijah said. “It was painful, especially in my final year, but I just knew I wasn’t going to let that be the end of my journey.”
Despite not completing the school year formally, Elijah was determined to sit for his WAEC exams, which he registered for through the same school. Support came from Mr. Sunday Okoye, a teacher at Lightbearers College, who refused to let Elijah’s brilliance go to waste.
Speaking on the motivation behind the scholarships, Hon. Sesi Whingan stated:
“This is about more than just rewarding high scores. It is about setting a tone for the kind of future we want for Badagry—one driven by excellence, vision, and the empowerment of young people. Bello and Kolade represent what is possible when our youths are given the right support and opportunities. I am proud of them and committed to supporting more brilliant minds across our constituency.”
The scholarships will fully cover the students' university tuition throughout their undergraduate studies. In addition, Hon. Whingan has assured that mentorship and additional support will be provided to help them reach their full potential.
This initiative is part of the Honourable Member’s broader agenda to uplift the educational landscape in Badagry and nurture a generation of leaders equipped with knowledge, values, and ambition.
Meanwhile, Badagry Today has also learned that the Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly for Badagry Constituency I, Hon. Bonu Solomon Saanu, has sent an invitation to Jesufolahan in a bid to assist the indigent prodigy in fulfilling his academic pursuit at the University of Lagos.

With these inspiring gestures, Hon. Sesi Whingan and Hon. Bonu Solomon have once again reaffirmed their commitment to the youth of Badagry—investing not just in individuals, but in the future of the entire constituency.
