In a rousing show of grassroots strength and celebration, Hon. Ambe Alice Itunu, the sole female councillorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Olorunda Local Council Development Area, was officially presented with the party’s flag today, sealing her candidacy for the upcoming Lagos local government elections.
The flag presentation, which took place during a vibrant Ward E meeting in Araromi-Ale, was marked by excitement, cultural display, and overwhelming support from party members, community leaders, and youth groups who turned out in their numbers to celebrate one of their own.
Ambe Alice’s emergence as councillorship candidate is not only historic but also a reflection of long-standing dedication to party ideals. A committed party stalwart, Alice’s political journey began during the era of the Action Congress (AC), continued through the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and has remained unwavering into the present-day APC.
Her political history is rich in grassroots mobilization and youth advocacy, having served as one of Olorunda’s most active female youth leaders over the years. Known for her consistency, humility, and accessibility, Alice has earned the trust of both the party structure and the people at the ward level.
Speaking with Badagry Today shortly after receiving the party flag, Hon. Ambe Alice expressed deep gratitude to the APC leadership, her ward executives, and the people of Ward E for their support and belief in her capacity to serve.
“This moment is not just about me; it’s about every young girl who has a dream and every woman who believes in service,” she said. “I am humbled and honoured by this trust, and I promise to carry the voice of our people into council with dignity, accountability, and impact.”
Party leaders at the event described her candidacy as a “reward for loyalty and service,” emphasizing that her grassroots credibility and history of party commitment set her apart. They also lauded the APC in Olorunda for promoting gender inclusion and encouraging more women to step into leadership roles.
As the July 12th council polls draw closer, Hon. Ambe Alice's candidacy is already energizing the base in Araromi-Ale and beyond. With her campaign set to hit full gear in the coming days, many observers believe she represents a fresh, credible voice with a deep understanding of the needs of her constituents.
Her emergence is being seen as a bold statement by the APC in Olorunda — that loyalty, hard work, and community presence still matter in politics, and that women have an essential role to play in shaping local governance.
The local government elections in Lagos are fast approaching, but for the people of Ward Ẹ, it seems they have already found their champion in Hon. Ambe Alice Itunu.
