As part of efforts to improve sanitation and promote public health, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, has commissioned a newly constructed public toilet facility at Owode Market in Badagry-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The facility, a gift from Friends of Dinna Harake Nazzal and facilitated through the Real Acts of Kindness (RAK) Development Foundation—founded by the commissioner himself—was officially unveiled during the Salah holiday.
Speaking at the commissioning, Hon. Ogunlende emphasized the significance of the project, describing it as a “major step toward improving public hygiene, health, and dignity” for the thousands of traders and customers who use the popular Owode Market daily.
“This is more than just a structure; it’s about restoring dignity and ensuring a healthier environment for our people,” Ogunlende said. “Through RAK Foundation, we remain committed to our mantra: to quench thirst, inspire change, and empower generations.”
The project was warmly received by members of the market community, who lauded the initiative for addressing one of their most pressing needs. With limited access to clean restroom facilities, the new structure is expected to drastically improve sanitation and hygiene standards in the bustling market.
The commissioner also expressed gratitude to the donors for their support, highlighting the importance of public-private collaboration in driving grassroots development.
“Partnerships like this show what’s possible when we come together with a shared vision to uplift our communities,” he added.
This initiative adds to a growing list of community-based interventions spearheaded by the RAK Development Foundation, which has built a reputation for championing humanitarian causes across Lagos State.
