In a strategic move to foster unity ahead of the upcoming local government elections, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated reconciliation committees across the state’s senatorial districts.
This initiative, announced on Tuesday by the party’s spokesperson, Mogaji Oladejo, aims to address grievances and disputes that arose following the party’s primary elections. The APC is seeking to resolve all internal conflicts within the next two weeks to ensure a united front as it heads into the polls.
Oladejo noted that several petitions and protests had trailed the primaries, prompting the party to activate its internal conflict resolution mechanism.
“The party, after receiving and reviewing the appeal reports, has decided to take immediate steps to reconcile all aggrieved members,” he said. “The committees have been decentralized to ensure a swift and effective resolution process.”
Each senatorial district now has a dedicated reconciliation committee:
-
Lagos East is chaired by Dr. Lateef Ibirogba, with Saheed Afonja, Sumbo Onitiri, and Sade Bakare serving as members.
-
Lagos Central is led by former Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs.) Sarah Sosan, alongside Funso Ologunde, Adedoyin Banjo, and Adigun Olalekan.
-
Lagos West 1 is headed by Otunba Bode Oyedele, with Chief Jide Damazio, Alhaji Aleshinloye, and Comfort Olalere as members.
-
Lagos West 2 is chaired by Alhaji Mutiu Are, and includes Hon. Jumoke Okoya, Otunba Kehinde Adeniyi, and Adeola Rashidat.
APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, expressed confidence in the capacity of the committee members, praising their depth of experience and commitment to party unity. He urged them to carry out their assignments diligently and ensure that every aggrieved party member is heard and reassured.
“We must rebuild trust and confidence within our ranks. The success of our party in the coming elections depends on our ability to heal, reconcile, and move forward together,” Ojelabi said.
The move signals the party’s intent to mend fences and consolidate its strength as election day approaches.
