According to screening result sheets obtained by Badagry Today, Mrs. Sanni Adebola and Mr. Akran Seyon Adeyemi were both disqualified from the race in Badagry. Mrs. Adebola, an aspirant in Olorunda LCDA was dropped after scoring 50.5 — a performance deemed below the acceptable standard set by the screening panel. On the other hand, Mr. Adeyemi, an aspirant in Badagry Local Government was disqualified for two major reasons: failure to present a Permanent Voter Card (PVC) and also performing below average in the screening exercise.
Elsewhere, the disqualification list included AbdulGaniyu Obasa, son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa. His case — like others — was linked to the absence of valid documents such as PVCs, APC membership cards, and, in some cases, questionable academic certificates.
The APC Electoral Committee, which conducted the screening, stated that the process was guided strictly by the party’s rules and standards. According to party officials, the goal is to ensure that only competent and credible individuals make it to the ballot.
In a notable shift, the APC also confirmed that it will adopt an indirect primary system for the upcoming polls, replacing the initially proposed direct primaries. Party leaders say the change is aimed at streamlining the process and minimizing internal disputes.
With the primaries approaching, political observers view the APC’s decision to uphold eligibility rules — even when it affects prominent names — as a clear signal of the party’s renewed commitment to internal democracy and transparency.
