JUST IN: NACAA Slams 6 Months Flight Ban on KWAM 1

In a dramatic move underscoring its zero-tolerance stance on unruly behavior, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has slammed a six-month domestic flight ban on Fuji icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate.

The sanction follows an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where the veteran musician reportedly engaged in disruptive behavior during boarding procedures at the domestic terminal on Tuesday.

Addressing journalists on Thursday, Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, confirmed that the decision was made to enforce discipline and protect aviation staff from abuse.

“KWAM 1 was involved in a confrontation in which alcohol was allegedly spilled on an airline employee. This is a clear violation of civil aviation conduct, amounting to harassment,” Achimugu said.

He emphasized that the NCAA’s regulations apply to all passengers, regardless of status or celebrity.

“No individual, no matter how prominent, is above the rules governing aviation conduct. This action is necessary to preserve order and ensure the safety and dignity of airport personnel,” he added.

The ban means KWAM 1 will be barred from flying on all domestic airlines within Nigeria for the next six months. Industry observers see the move as a stern warning against VIP misconduct and a bold step toward reinforcing discipline in the aviation sector.

Public reaction has been swift, with many Nigerians and aviation stakeholders applauding the NCAA for prioritizing professionalism and accountability.

As of the time of filing this report, KWAM 1 has not issued any official statement regarding the sanction.
