The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of its National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
In a condolence statement signed by the Acting Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, the Party described her passing as a painful blow not only to the Yilwatda family but also to the APC family in Plateau State and across the country.
“The late Mama’s death is indeed painful and devastating, especially to her children, because she departed at a time her wise counsel and fervent prayers were most needed, particularly by our National Chairman,” the statement read.
The APC paid glowing tribute to Mama Lydia, describing her as a devoted Christian, virtuous woman, and humble leader within the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN). The Party recalled her outstanding contributions to the growth of the church alongside her late husband, Reverend Toma Yilwatda, particularly in Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, and Plateau States.
According to the statement, Mama Lydia’s life of selfless service, faith, and commitment has left behind an indelible legacy, reflected in the values and accomplishments of her children.
“Surely, her demise is a great loss not only to the Yilwatda family but also to the Church, the Women Fellowship, and Plateau State at large,” the Party noted.
While commiserating with Professor Nentawe Yilwatda and the entire family, the APC prayed for the peaceful repose of Mama Lydia’s soul and for God’s comfort on all who mourn her passing.
