Badagry’s voice in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Solomon Bonu Saanu, has earned a major recognition as the highest-ranked first-time lawmaker in the 40-member Assembly, according to the latest performance index released by Lagos Reporters.
The ranking, published in August 2025, assessed the output of all lawmakers in the Assembly based on measurable legislative performance and feedback from residents across constituencies. Hon. Bonu, representing Badagry Constituency 1 and serving as Chairman of the House Committee on Tourism, emerged as the best-performing first-timer out of 20 new legislators, securing the 9th overall position with an impressive total of 15,300 points.
The top three spots in the report were claimed by Hon. Tobun Abiodun (Epe I), Hon. Adedeji Temitope A. (Ifako Ijaiye I), and Hon. Yishawu Olusegun Gbolahan (Eti-Osa II).
For Hon. Bonu, who was elected in 2023 after serving as Special Adviser on Tourism to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, this recognition is widely viewed as validation of his dedication to quality representation, legislative impact, and constituency engagement.
Lagos Reporters explained that the ranking aimed to highlight lawmakers demonstrating excellence in representation, active participation on the floor of the House, and responsiveness to their communities.
In Badagry, the news has been met with excitement, with residents describing the recognition as a reward for Hon. Bonu’s consistency in championing local causes, influencing state policies, and bringing visibility to issues affecting the constituency.
Observers note that Bonu’s ability to transition from the executive arm, where he previously served as a key tourism adviser, into a legislative role with measurable impact reflects both political maturity and a deep understanding of governance.
This latest recognition, analysts believe, further cements his rising profile within Lagos politics and strengthens his position as one of Badagry’s most visible voices at the state level.
