The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Loveth Christian and 17-year-old Damilola Basiru, were charged with two counts bordering on trafficking and the exploitation of minors.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, informed the court that the defendants were arrested on April 26 in the Ajara Agamathen area of Badagry. They were allegedly caught attempting to traffic two teenage girls, aged 15 and 18, to Ghana for exploitative purposes.
The charges brought against them are said to contravene Sections 276 and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
Presiding Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya ordered that both suspects be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre. He also adjourned the case until June 30, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The court did not take the pleas of the accused persons during the hearing.
