Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially sworn in five new members of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, including Badagry's own Yahaya Lateef Olawale, in a move aimed at strengthening the backbone of governance in the state.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Lagos State Government House, marks a renewed push to uphold the core values of integrity, fairness, and dedicated public service across the state’s civil service system.

Leading the new Commission is Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas, a seasoned public administrator and retired Permanent Secretary. She is joined by four other distinguished members: Mr. Fatai Olalekan Lasisi, Mr. Lateef Yahaya Olawale (representing the Badagry Division), Mr. Afolabi Olatunji Sobowale, and Mr. Rufus Adekoya Adedapo.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in an address shared via his official Facebook page, emphasized the crucial role of the civil service in ensuring effective governance.

“The civil service is the backbone of government, and when it operates effectively, everything else falls into place,” he stated.

Highlighting the diversity of the appointees, the Governor noted that each member represents one of the five traditional divisions of Lagos State—ensuring that the perspectives and needs of every community are considered in state administration.

He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to drive excellence and serve as a model for public service delivery not just in Lagos, but across the country.

“Congratulations to the newly sworn-in members. I trust that you will uphold the values that make Lagos thrive: integrity, fairness, and the courage to do what is right, even when it is difficult,” Sanwo-Olu said.

For Badagry, the appointment of Yahaya Lateef Olawale is seen as a significant recognition of the division’s ongoing contributions to the state’s development. Community leaders have already begun celebrating the news, describing it as a win for equitable representation and grassroots inclusion in key government institutions.

With this new leadership team in place, expectations are high for a reinvigorated Lagos State Civil Service Commission—one that will ensure transparency, merit-based appointments, and efficient service delivery for all residents of the state.
