The political atmosphere in Badagry Local Government is heating up as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) officially named Barr. Medemaku Abayomi Noah as its chairmanship candidate for the upcoming local government elections in Lagos State.
Medemaku, a respected legal practitioner and grassroots politician, will go head-to-head with Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and former member of the House of Representatives representing Badagry Federal Constituency.
Speaking with Badagry Today via phone, Barr. Medemaku confirmed his candidacy and expressed gratitude to party leaders and supporters for the confidence reposed in him. “This is a call to serve, and I am fully committed to bringing sustainable, people-driven development to Badagry,” he said.
A senior PDP source who spoke on condition of anonymity described Medemaku’s emergence as a strategic move aimed at ending years of APC dominance in the area. “We are putting forward a candidate who understands the issues at the grassroots. Our goal is to set a new pace for local governance—one that truly reflects the will and needs of the people,” the source said.
On the other side of the political divide, Hon. Hunpe was confirmed last week as the APC’s flagbearer in what is shaping up to be a high-stakes contest between two seasoned politicians.
As the race gathers momentum, both parties are expected to intensify their campaigns in the coming weeks, with voters in Badagry watching closely to see who will take the reins of local leadership.
It's a great move.BARR MEDEMAKU ,I'm glad for your candidacy. You are really the man that fit in for the job. Therefore, I welcome you to the seat of our dear Council chairmanship political game.
