Abdulsalam Abiodun Ashade, a dynamic accountant, environmental advocate, and youth development expert, has officially entered the race for Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Badagry, Lagos State.

His campaign kicked off on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Iworo Town with the unveiling of the "SCHOOL Agenda"—a comprehensive six-point plan designed to drive sustainable development and inclusive governance across Olorunda.

The SCHOOL Agenda stands for:
Security, Community Development, Health & Environment, Organized Infrastructure, Open Governance, and Learning (Education & Technology).

Ashade, well-known for his grassroots work and youth empowerment initiatives, promises to bring bold, practical solutions to the forefront of local governance. Here's a look at the key pillars of his agenda:

  • Boosting Security: By strengthening collaborations with the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps and the Nigeria Police, Ashade plans to make Olorunda’s communities safer for all.

  • Community Development: His “One Community Per Month” project targets 48 developmental projects across five wards over four years, focusing on real, visible improvements at the grassroots.

  • Healthcare and Environment: Ashade plans to expand the number of Primary Health Centres from 9 to 12 and introduce 24/7 services. He also aims to roll out free medical outreach programs, launch recycling hubs, and tackle flooding with better drainage systems.

  • Infrastructure Growth: From rehabilitating roads and schools to establishing IT hubs and recreational centres, infrastructure development stands as a core priority.

  • Transparent Leadership: He pledges to run an open, accountable administration where citizens have a real voice in governance decisions.

  • Education & Youth Empowerment: Ashade wants to expand access to skill acquisition programs and tech-driven education, with a strong focus on preparing young people for the future.

Central to his vision is the "Leave No One Behind" (LNOB) policy, which includes a commitment to ensure that women and persons with disabilities (PWDs) make up at least 40% of beneficiaries in all government programs. “Equity and inclusion are non-negotiable,” he affirmed.

Ashade’s background speaks to his readiness for leadership. As an Environmental Ambassador, a 2024 Mandela Washington Fellow, and Executive Director of Green Janitors Sustainable Initiative, he’s been at the forefront of climate advocacy, youth development, and community service.

His SCHOOL Agenda is closely aligned with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative—demonstrating Ashade’s commitment to broader state and national development goals.

Wrapping up his declaration, Ashade made a passionate call to action: “Let’s build a future where no one is left behind. I invite all residents, stakeholders, and development partners to work with us in creating a more inclusive, prosperous, and sustainable Olorunda LCDA.”

His message was simple, but powerful: “Together, we can build a community where every voice matters.”
