Badagry Today has learned that the 20 candidates for chairmanship positions across the local government areas (LGAs), along with 37 candidates representing local council development areas (LCDAs), were formally presented with LASIEC nomination forms today and subsequently screened at the commission’s office.
A source within the APC secretariat in Lagos, who is familiar with the internal processes but spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the development. According to him, all 57 chairmanship candidates were summoned earlier today and handed their nomination forms before proceeding to the LASIEC office for screening.
“Despite the agitation from some aspirants who were dissatisfied with the outcome of the recently concluded APC primaries, the party leadership has stood firm,” the source said. “The APC has not revisited or revised the list of winners. All individuals earlier declared as winners in the chairmanship category have now been given LASIEC nomination forms and have completed their screening.”
The insider emphasized that the party’s decision signals a clear commitment to moving forward with the current list of candidates, despite internal discontent.
In a related development, the source also revealed that the vice chairmanship candidates — whose names were officially announced earlier today — are expected to collect their LASIEC nomination forms and undergo screening tomorrow.
Additionally, councillorship candidates across all LGAs and LCDAs will also begin the same process in the coming days, as preparations intensify ahead of the grassroots polls.
This latest move by the APC appears to be a decisive step to consolidate party structures at the local level amid rumblings from aggrieved aspirants, as the political machinery gears up for one of the most significant electoral contests in the state’s grassroots governance calendar.
