In a powerful show of support for youth-driven leadership and a unified political vision for Badagry, CEO of the Sogotho Foundation, Joseph Sogotho Fatonji, has formally endorsed Alhaji Hassan Mihode Ahmed (HMH) as the most qualified aspirant for future leadership in the constituency. In his public statement, Fatonji praised *Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan*, current Member of the House of Representatives and Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), for setting a new standard in political representation and inspiring a wave of youthful engagement across the region.
Fatonji described Hon. Whingan’s rise and influence as not only unprecedented but a clear demonstration of what dynamic and youthful leadership can accomplish in modern governance. “The role of young and vibrant candidates in the affairs of the nation is not just a trend; it's a significant shift in the political landscape that we cannot afford to overlook,” he said.
Citing Whingan’s historic achievement of clinching a strategic leadership position in the National Assembly as a first-time legislator, Fatonji emphasized that his performance has shattered outdated notions of experience being tied solely to age or tenure. “He has undoubtedly motivated young Badagrians to actively bridge innovative ideas and perspectives that resonate with the needs and aspirations of our prestigious local government,” Fatonji stated.
The endorsement of Alhaji Hassan Mihode Ahmed, popularly known as HMH, was positioned as a continuation of this new era of visionary leadership. According to Fatonji, after deep strategic consultations and observations, HMH emerged as the aspirant whose values, capacity, and alignment with Hon. Whingan’s transformative agenda make him the right candidate for Badagry's future.
“As we compare these emerging leaders to their older counterparts, it becomes clear: investing in youth candidates is investing in a brighter future for our local government,” Fatonji noted. “I hereby declare my intentions: I endorse the ambitions of Alhaji Hassan Mihode Ahmed, amongst other qualified aspirants, as undisputedly the most qualified aspirant in Badagry, in light of supporting Hon. Sesi's visions for a new Badagry.”
Fatonji concluded his statement with a rallying call that reflects the generational momentum gathering across the constituency: “After all, we are not just the leaders of tomorrow; we are the changemakers of today. One Badagry, One Lagos!”
The declaration is already generating buzz across youth and civic groups in Badagry, as stakeholders increasingly look to new leadership models capable of delivering development, transparency, and unity.
As 2025 progresses, the growing synergy between youthful political actors and the community’s expectations may well redefine the trajectory of governance in Badagry and beyond.
