NABAS, De Voice Newspaper Host First-Ever National Retreat for Badagry Students

The National Association of Badagry Students (NABAS), in collaboration with De Voice Newspaper, in a bold and inspiring move to empower the next generation of Badagry’s thinkers and leaders, will host the first-ever National Retreat and Hangout for Badagry students in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The two-day retreat, scheduled for May 1st and 2nd, 2025, will take place at the scenic Whispering Palms Resort in Badagry. It promises to be an enriching blend of education, exploration, and empowerment for the hundreds of participants expected to attend.

Far more than a typical student gathering, the retreat is designed to equip attendees with critical knowledge and future-ready skills. A technology workshop and training session will introduce students to emerging tools and trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital innovation—preparing them to not only participate in but also shape the future of technology in Nigeria and beyond.

“This retreat is about building bridges—to our heritage, to one another, and to the future,” said one of the organisers. “It’s a chance for these bright young minds to reflect, recharge, and reimagine what’s possible.”

Participants will also go on a group excursion to two historic landmarks in Abeokuta, Ogun State—the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library and the iconic Olumo Rock. These visits are meant to inspire a deeper appreciation for Nigeria’s leadership history and natural wonders, while also reinforcing the value of cultural heritage in shaping informed, grounded citizens.

Throughout the retreat, students will engage in interactive workshops, leadership-building exercises, and networking activities aimed at strengthening their identity, confidence, and sense of purpose as Badagry indigenes.

“This is more than a hangout,” said a student leader. “It’s a movement to ignite passion, drive, and unity among Badagry students nationwide.”

The initiative marks a new chapter for NABAS and De Voice Newspaper as they push the envelope in youth development, digital literacy, and community engagement.

As the world evolves, these students are not just watching from the sidelines—they are being groomed to lead from the front.

The future of Badagry is already gathering—this May, at Whispering Palms.
