The political scene in Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State took a notable turn this past weekend as Barrister Medemaku Abayomi Noah, affectionately known as “The Man,” officially announced his candidacy for the chairmanship position with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming local government elections set for July 12, 2025.
In a heartfelt and personal speech delivered social media, Medemaku, a 37-year-old lawyer and advocate for youth, presented himself as the fresh face Badagry needs to forge a new path toward development and inclusive governance.
“I stand before you today not just as the PDP candidate, but as a young person who has faced struggles, who has triumphed over challenges, and who is ready to serve,” he declared, earning enthusiastic applause. “I’m not a career politician. I’m a man who has built himself from the ground up — a true man of the people.”
Having grown up in Badagry, Medemaku shared the story of losing his father during his first year at university. Despite the challenges, he persevered to become a successful lawyer, furthering his studies in Germany and establishing a thriving law practice upon his return to Nigeria. His choice to come back home, he explained, stemmed from a deep-seated belief in Badagry’s potential.
“Badagry has more untapped resources than some countries in Europe,” he emphasized. “That’s why I returned — to invest in my hometown and help it grow.”
Highlighting his educational and professional accomplishments, which include degrees in Law, Public Administration, Human Rights, and Human Resource Management, Medemaku asserted that he offers more than just impressive credentials — he brings a clear vision and the vibrant energy of youth.
Citing his impressive educational background and professional accomplishments, which include degrees in Law, Public Administration, Human Rights, and Human Resource Management, Medemaku passionately argued that he offers more than just impressive credentials — he brings a fresh vision and the enthusiasm of youth.
“I’ve traveled to over 20 countries and explored more than 20 Nigerian states. I’ve witnessed what works, and I know how we can make a difference in Badagry,” he stated. “Local government shouldn’t be a retirement plan for aging politicians — it should be a springboard for dynamic leadership.”
Throughout his speech, Medemaku consistently reached out to the youth and grassroots voters, emphasizing that he embodies a new wave of leadership that truly understands their struggles and dreams. He boldly challenged the status quo, taking direct aim at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing them of leading the people into hardship and mismanagement.
“Some claim the election is already rigged in favor of the APC. I say NO. That time is behind us,” he asserted. “Your votes will matter. And when you come out in large numbers to vote, I will become the next Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government.”
With a history of leadership that spans from his days as Head Boy in school to his role as President of Nigerian students in Germany and various positions within the PDP, Medemaku confidently stated that he has always demonstrated integrity, capability, and commitment.
In closing, he adopted a hopeful and defiant tone: “I believe in Nigeria. I believe in Lagos State. I believe in Badagry. And most importantly, I believe in YOU — in your voice, your power, and your vote. We will overcome. We will win.”
As the race heats up toward July 12, Barrister Medemaku Abayomi Noah has made it clear: he’s not just running for office — he’s on a mission to redefine what leadership means in Badagry.
