With the July 12 local government elections fast approaching, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has inaugurated a 40-member campaign council to drive its electoral push across the state’s 57 local council areas.
The council, unveiled on Tuesday in Ikeja, is chaired by former APC Lagos State Chairman and ex-Commissioner for Home Affairs, Babatunde Balogun. Razak Ajala will serve as secretary.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, the APC described the new campaign structure as a strategic move to deepen grassroots engagement and mobilise support ahead of the crucial polls.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the current Lagos APC Chairman urged members of the newly formed council to swing into action immediately.
"The election is near. I urge you all to hit the ground running," he said. "Take our message to every corner of Lagos. Engage the people, mobilise them, and showcase the progress our local governments have made. We must win hearts—and votes."
