JAMB Warns Against Fake Payment Site Targeting UTME Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has distanced itself from a fraudulent website soliciting payments from candidates who missed the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the board identified the fake platform as “Copyrightwriter Personal J Rescheduling Flw,” which is linked to account number 8520641017 at Sterling Bank.

According to Benjamin, the scammers are demanding N15,700 from unsuspecting candidates under the false pretext of rescheduling missed exams.

“We are issuing this urgent alert to warn the public about a fraudulent scheme targeting candidates who failed to take part in the UTME. The perpetrators behind this scam are not affiliated with JAMB or any authorized agency,” he said.

He emphasized that the account details being circulated are fake and have no ties to the board, stressing that the platform exists solely to defraud candidates.

Dr. Benjamin urged Sterling Bank to take swift action to address the use of the listed account in the scam and confirmed that the matter has been reported to the relevant security agencies, who are actively tracking those responsible.

He reiterated that JAMB does not reschedule exams for candidates who miss their tests for reasons not attributable to the board. However, he noted that candidates who experienced biometric verification issues are being investigated, and eligible individuals will be invited to retake the exam at no cost.

“It is important to note that once a candidate has completed registration, no additional payments are required by JAMB,” he added. “We advise all candidates to remain alert, avoid falling for scams, and report any suspicious activity immediately.”
