In a major political development ahead of the upcoming local government elections in Lagos State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced its vice chairmanship candidates for Badagry Local Government, Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), and Badagry West LCDA.
Alhaji Akeem Adeyemi has been selected as the vice chairmanship candidate for Badagry Local Government. He will be running alongside Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, the former House of Representatives member who was recently elected as the party’s chairmanship flagbearer for the council. This pairing is seen as a strategic alliance aimed at consolidating APC’s grassroots influence across the historic town.
In Olorunda LCDA, the party reaffirmed its confidence in experience by reappointing Hon. Bolaji Adele Solomon as its vice chairmanship candidate. Solomon, who previously served as vice chairman, will once again occupy the position if the party wins. He is set to serve under Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, who emerged as the APC's chairmanship candidate for the council area.
Meanwhile, in Badagry West LCDA, Hon. Rauf Kayode Yemaren clinched the APC chairmanship ticket. His running mate is Princess Oluremi Nutayi Funmilayo Ajose, a respected figure in the local political scene. Her emergence as vice chairmanship candidate adds further diversity and balance to the ticket.
These selections mark the finalization of APC’s local leadership slate across the three councils in Badagry Division. Party insiders describe the choices as a blend of tested leadership, community trust, and electoral strategy—setting the tone for what promises to be a fiercely contested local poll.
As the political atmosphere continues to gather momentum, all eyes are now on the campaign trail, where these candidates will seek to win the hearts of voters in one of Lagos State’s most historically significant constituencies.
