In a bold move to strengthen party unity ahead of the July 12 local government elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Badagry Local Government Area held a landmark reconciliation meeting today at the party’s secretariat. The meeting, which brought together all chairmanship aspirants, was marked by a spirit of camaraderie and renewed commitment to collective success.

At the heart of the gathering was Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, the party's official flag-bearer for the chairmanship position, alongside his running mate, Hon. Akeem. The duo met with fellow aspirants in an atmosphere of mutual respect, with all parties emphasizing the importance of setting aside individual ambitions for the greater good of the party and the people of Badagry.

The meeting was presided over by the APC Badagry Chairman, Hon. Gafar Meyon, who underscored the essence of party loyalty and unity. He commended all aspirants for their passion, maturity, and sportsmanship throughout the pre-primary process and encouraged them to close ranks in support of the party’s chosen candidates.

Also in attendance were key stakeholders and respected leaders, including the Apex Leader of Badagry LGA, M.Z. Ogunbiyi, who echoed similar sentiments—stressing that APC’s strength lies in its ability to resolve internal differences through dialogue and collaboration.

Significantly, the aspirants who were not selected as the party’s flag-bearer expressed no bitterness. Instead, they highlighted the importance of transparency and inclusiveness in governance going forward. While voicing the hopes and concerns of their supporters, they reaffirmed their commitment to the party and pledged their full support for Hunpe’s candidacy.

Responding, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe praised the aspirants for demonstrating maturity and party loyalty. He assured them that his administration, if elected, would reflect the inclusive spirit shown at the meeting. “No one will be left behind,” Hunpe promised. “This campaign and our future government will be a collective project that engages every leader and grassroots member alike.”

He further emphasized that meaningful development can only be achieved when everyone is involved in shaping decisions, and he pledged to maintain open communication with all stakeholders.

The reconciliation meeting is being seen as a turning point for APC in Badagry, symbolizing the party’s readiness to approach the July 12 election as a united front. With internal disputes resolved and a clear commitment to inclusive leadership, the APC appears firmly positioned to secure victory and continue delivering progress to the people of Badagry.
