The Badagry Women Development Forum has extended warm congratulations to the newly emerged chairmanship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the successful conclusion of the party's local government primaries held on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

In a statement signed by the Forum’s Principal Coordinator, Sewede Pot-Balogun Olorunfemi, the group commended the peaceful conduct of the primaries and congratulated Hon. Babatunde Hunpe (Badagry Local Government), Hon. Rauf Kayode Yemaren (Badagry West LCDA), and Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon (Olorunda LCDA) on their emergence as APC flagbearers.

Describing the primaries as a critical step toward consolidating the party’s strength at the grassroots, the Forum applauded party leaders and stakeholders for their efforts in managing the electoral process.

However, acknowledging the post-primary tensions and concerns raised by some aspirants and supporters—particularly in Badagry West and Olorunda LCDAs—the Forum urged for calm and maturity.

“We understand the emotions that often follow such competitive processes,” the statement read. “Nevertheless, we appeal to all aggrieved members to explore internal party mechanisms for redress and to avoid divisive actions that may weaken our collective goal.”

Calling for unity and reconciliation, the Forum emphasized that the success of the APC in the upcoming general elections depends on collaboration and party cohesion.

“In the interest of the party and the people of Badagry, we urge all aspirants to close ranks, rally behind the chosen candidates, and work as a team to ensure victory at the polls,” the Forum stated. “There is strength in unity, and our focus must remain on service delivery and party growth.”

The Forum also encouraged the candidates to practice inclusive leadership by engaging all stakeholders, including former aspirants, in their plans and campaigns.

“We wish the candidates success in the next phase of their political journey and call on them to carry everyone along as they prepare for the general elections,” the message concluded. “Let peace, unity, and progress guide our path forward.”
